Savvas Metaxas is a musician and sound artist who works with composition, experimental music, field recordings, and modular synthesis. Counting more than 15 releases on vinyl, CDs and cassettes, his music has been released on various Greek and international labels such as Granny Records, Glistening Examples, Phinery, Orila, LINE, More Mars, Superpang, Coherent States and Falt.
His latest album, titled ‘Magnetic Loops III’ was released in 2023 on the ‘LINE’ label (Los Angeles).
In 2008 he co-founded the label Granny Records, focusing on promoting contemporary electronic musicians, with a special emphasis on free improvisation, noise, electroacoustic composition and contemporary electronic music. Alongside Granny Records, he has co-produced events in various venues in Thessaloniki.
At SIFF Savvas Metaxas, will present an enthralling live score performance accompanying the classic film “Finis Terrae” by Jean Epstein (France, 1929, 82′).
