Ο βραβευμένος εικαστικός και κινηματογραφιστής βρέθηκε στο 7ο SIFF για να παρουσιάσει μια επιλογή από μικρού μήκους ταινίες του καθώς και μια ολοκαίνουρια περφόρμανς. Το πειραματικό έργο του ξεχωρίζει για την πρωτότυπη χρήση ψηφιακών αλγορίθμων και τα αφαιρετικής αισθητικής βίντεο.

The award-winning artist and filmmaker visited SIFF as an Artist in Focus to present a selection of his short films as well as a brand-new performance.
His experimental work stands out for the original use of digital algorithms and abstract aesthetic videos.

Σκηνοθέτης, φωτογράφος και πολυμεσικός καλλιτέχνης, ο Cohen έχει γυρίσει 65 ταινίες, έχει συνεργαστεί με κορυφαίους μουσικούς όπως οι Patti Smith, Fugazi και REM, ενώ έργα του έχουν περιέλθει στη συλλογή του Μουσείου Μοντέρνας Τέχνης της Νέας Υόρκης μεταξύ άλλων. Ο πολυσχιδής δημιουργός ήρθε για πρώτη φορά στην Ελλάδα για να παρουσιάσει τις ταινίες του, υπό τις αυτοσχεδιαστικές μουσικές συνθέσεις του Γιώργου Ξυλούρη και του DJ Rupture, παρουσιάζοντας το οπτικοακουστικό πρότζεκτ Gravity Hill Sound+Image στο Ναυπηγείο του Ταρσανά.

Director, photographer and multimedia artist, Jem Cohen has made over 65 films, and has collaborated with leading musicians such as Patti Smith, Fugazi and REM, while his works are included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, among others. The creator came to Syros to present his films as an Artist in Focus, along with the improvised musical compositions of Giorgos Xylouris and DJ Rupture, presenting the Gravity Hill Sound+Image audiovisual project at the Tarsanas Shipyard.

Last July, Ela Orleans visited Greece for the first time on the occasion of #siff2019.
At our opening evening at Miaouli square, she live-scored the silent-film “Vampyr” with her hypnotic compositions.
Τhe following days of the festival, she gave a haunting musical performance as a part of the Quarry Overload event at “Manos Eleftheriou” Quarry.

Η Ela Orleans επισκέφθηκε για πρώτη φορά την Ελλάδα με αφορμή το Φεστιβάλ, τον περασμένο Ιούλιο.
Παρουσίασε μία πρωτότυπη σύμπραξη κινηματογράφου και μουσικής, στην Πλατεία Μιαούλη, όπου έντυσε με τις υπνωτιστικές συνθέσεις της το βωβό φιλμ «Βαμπίρ».
Τις επόμενες μέρες του φεστιβάλ συμμετείχε με μία αξέχαστη μουσική performance στο Quarry Overload στο Λατομείο «Μάνος Ελευθερίου».
