SIFF SAYS NO TO SINGLE USE PLASTIC!
SIFF is inseparably linked to the island of Syros, and to the surrounding Aegean Sea. As part of its focus on the cultural heritage of Syros, understood as including the island’s natural environment, the Festival now pledges its commitment to the protection of the sea. For the first time, the Syros International Film Festival becomes an ambassador of the SeaChange Greek Islands program, supporting a holistic series of interventions geared towards protecting the marine environment. SIFF invites the public to become part of this change by saying “no” to single-use plastics and protect the natural wealth of the island. It also pledges to organize a series of beach and screening location clean-ups, with the aim of collecting and recycling plastic.
The program is an initiative of the Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation and aims to raise public awareness through a series of actions that encourage a different relationship with the sea and help us understand the value of the marine environment, so that we can all protect this common living heritage.
